OLY Swimming's Mandatory Fundraising Program

The best way to keep fees down as pool costs rise is to do fundraising.  OLY has one of the easiest programs for this and it keeps getting easier.  The team offers both Raise Right (formally known as SCRIP) and grocery fundraising options.  You can choose to participate in either one of them or both.  Please note, if you choose not to particpate in the fundraising programs, your family will be billed the amount on your April invoice.

Each family is expected to fundraise the following amounts:

New families: your fundraising goal is $50

Returning families: your fundraising goal is $75

Swim School families: do not have a fundraising goal but can still take advantage of the program. This means that if you participate, the fundraising credits are split between you and the team.  So you will be earning money toward fees right away.

Fundraising Period April 1st – March 31st

If you exceed your fundraising obligation, OLY will split the overage 50/50 with you.

These refunds will be issued once per year, at the end of the short course season and will be credited to your account.

Here are your fundraising options:

Raise Right (formally known as SCRIP):

This program allows you to purchase gift cards from a large pool of vendors (Barnes and Noble, Kohl’s and Panera just to name a few).  The rebate you receive depends upon the individual vendor, but it is clearly indicated on the website. Raise Right order dates will be clearly identified on the team calendar.

Payment for Raise Right purchases will be processed via online payment. Cash and checks are not accepted.

If you are not a current Raise Right member :

  1. Go to www.raiseright.com
  2. You will see a blue box on the right hand side that says "Sign Up!”.
  3. You will see Join An Existing Program.
  4. Enter our enrollment code.  It is 7CABL4B65832
  5. Enter your personal information as prompted and accept the terms of use at the bottom of the page
  6. Then click Join
  7. Setup payment as directed on the website

Payment options on Raise Right:  credit/debit card or bank account only.  Unfortunately personal checks just aren't feasible with a team of this size.

Any physical gift cards ordered with a "Ship to Coordinator" option will be placed in a queue.  Once per month the coordinator will compile the orders and push them through.  The cards will be shipped to the Coordinator.  The coordinator will have the cards available at practices and meets.

Please contact the Fundraising Coordinator if you have any questions at olyscrip@gmail.com.  Or, if you are having trouble with logging onto the Raise Right website you can contact them directly at 1-800-727-4715 (option 3).

Busch’s (Grocery):

OLY participates in the Busch’s “Cash for Education” program (which includes other non-profit organizations such as ours) to meet the fundraising requirement.  Anytime you shop at Busch’s you simply have to swipe your MyWay key tag and a percentage of your purchase will count toward your fundraising.  (Please note that Busch's does not give a specific percentage back.  They have a certain amount that they allocate to the MyWay Program.  They allocate the credits back based on the spending during that quarter.)

IF you do NOT have a Busch’s MY WAY card you need to register for one:

1.      Go to Buschs.com

2.      Click on Busch’s MyWay in the upper right corner

Frequently Asked Questions:

A :  Yes!  Here’s an example:

You receive a $37.50 rebate for your spending at Busch's.

Raise Right:

$500 to Home Depot (4%) - $20 to your commitment

$25 AMC card (8%) and $40 Chipolte (9%) - $5.60 to your commitment.

Best Buy cards - 8 cards at $25 each (4%) - $8 to your commitment.

Build A Bear for your niece - $50 (8%) - $4 to your commitment.

Bass Pro for you husband - $50 (9%) - $4.50 more.

Chewy for dog food delivery $75 (5%) = 3.75

Total :

$83.35.  You’ve met your commitment.

Q :  How do I get my Raise Right cards?

A :  It is your responsibility to pick up your cards.  No cards will be sent home with swimmers unless you request it. Once they are given to a swimmer they are no longer OLY’s responsibility.  You will be notified when they are in and available for pick up.

Q:   How long are the cards good for?

A :  It depends on the card.  Busch’s card is good forever.  For Raise Right each retailer has different restrictions and expiration dates.  Please review the list of retailers on the Great Lakes Raise Right site to see what restrictions might apply to those you wish to purchase gift certificates from.  Most retailers do not allow you to apply gift certificates to credit cards for payment, however, Kohl’s does allow you to do just that.  Again, please refer to the retailer list.

Q:  How can I increase my earnings?

A:   Have family members or friends register their cards for OLY (Michigan/Ohio only).  Ask friends and relatives to order from Raise Right.  Just make sure to give the scrip coordinator (olyscrip@gmail.com) their names so you get the credit.  Ask them to help support your swimmer by buying gift cards/certificates.  Especially around the holidays, graduation, etc…

Q:   What about graduating Seniors/College?

A:   When your senior graduates after short course you are no longer required to participate in the grocery/Raise Right program.  If you choose to participate we appreciate your contribution to OLY.

Q :  What about swimmers not swimming SUMMER?

A:   The program is designed to be a year-round program.  If your swimmer takes the summer session off, your annual commitment remains the same and we appreciate your participation.

Q :  What about Swimmers missing a season (SC or LC)?

A :  If your swimmer does not swim a season, please continue to participate if you plan to return to the team for the following season.  Any amount earned will be applied towards your annual commitment.  If your swimmer does not come back for the next season (2 in a row) you will not receive a refund, but we appreciate any contribution made to OLY through this program.

Q :  What about swimmers leaving OLY during a season (SC or LC)?

A:   If your swimmer leaves OLY during a season you will not receive a refund.

Q : What is the fundraising requirement if I join the team mid season?

A : A NEW OLY family’s fundraising requirement may be pro-rated for the first year based on the date your swimmer joined the team.  Listed below are the pro-rated fundraising requirements for NEW families broken down by join date:

                        Join Date                    Pro-Rated Amount*

                        4/1 - 8/31                     $75

                        9/1 – 11/30                  $50

                        12/1 – 1/31                  $25

                        2/1 – 3/31                    $0

* Returning families are responsible for the total fundraising requirement of $75.00 every year thereafter.
